The story of Simon & His Neighbour.
Simon lives in a 5-room HDB flat with his wife & 3 kids. They are generally a happy family except that every day after work, when Simon comes home, the entire living room & walkway is covered with his childrens toys & books. He always has to put the toys and books away befre he can walk through the living room to reach his bedroom. He tried reminding, telling, scolding the kids but it was no use.
One day, after a long and tiring work day, Simon came home and found the children's bicycles, teddy bears, Power Rangers toys, fire engine sets & lego tiles thrown all over the entire living room, blocking his path to the bedroom.
He was so angry with the children that he forgot to close his door as he started t put the toys away. He was so engrossed in it tt he did not noticed that his neighbour, Mr Lim, had come in to help pick up the toys. Mr Lim's youngest daughter had just got married a few weeks ago & had moved out of the house. He had not had a chance to see her much aft her wedding.
When Simon realised that Mr Lim was picking up the toys aft him, he was embarrassed and said, " Sorry, It's such a mess, I'm sick of cleaning up aft these kids. "
Mr Lim said, "I hope you dont mind me helping. I missed doing this, now tt my daughter has grown up and gone. You should enjoy it while it lasts. Your children will be gone before you know it. They grow up so fast. "
With Mr Lim's response, Simon learnt a powerful lesson!
After that, Simon never got angry when there were toys thrown all over the living room. He felt grateful when he saw the toys. "The kids are still kids and i have got more time to spend with them. "
